My first concert with the Seniors Choir was last Saturday as I've newly taken on the duty of directing the choir. It went very well, was well attended and was so entertaining! I loved it and there were lots of good reviews! There were about 15 songs by the choir and special solos and duets by members, with a few jokes thrown in by our MC, Pat! She even spontaneously started dancing and called up her son in the audience to waltz with her! He protested mildly but then came to the front smiling and danced with his mother. Such a nice touch. He told me later on that he started dancing with his mother at age five. : )  Melissa is our Choir pianist and deserves a lot of credit for playing for an hour and a half straight. I enjoy working with her and the choir! This is choir #2 for us as we also have a church Ward choir.

What a fun group of people!

This was taken at our last rehersal before the concert. These are two sisters in our choir. Melissa dreamed up a stage name for them, "The Cockney Chicks"! They sang a duet at the concert, "Wouldn't it be Loverly". Here Melissa's granddaughter is passing out treats (cookies) for the choir. Yes, we spoil them each week!

Bill on guitar singing "Don't Give Up Till it's Over". He involved the choir and the audience on the chorus. We loved it!

James who kindly gave us permission to sing one of his newly published songs, "Apple Blossom Time". There were two verses they sang once through and at the end the women sang one verse and at the same time, the men sang the other. Sounded really pretty together! James played for a sing-a-long during intermission and took song requests.

We must have been singing, "Take me Out to the ball game" here, as we're all wearing our baseball hats! : )

Here's a painting I did last year of a little sparrow. I think of the sparrows these days as we have had two weeks of rain and overcast skies. When WILL we see the sun? I'm sure the sparrows are missing their dust baths. We have set up a stone planter the perfect size to accomodate a sparrow! Inside my husband puts sifted dirt especially so they can luxuriate and enjoy the dust. What fun they seem to be having and it's so much fun to watch them, singing and flapping away in the planter while sending up clouds of dust! When they fly off they leave in a trail of dust! Right now we see them coming to the planter only to find it covered by a slate rock. (To keep out the rain)

Well my choir is having their concert this afternoon and I'm off to continue practicing!  
 
 

 

My first post! It was a lovely holiday today (Victoria Day) and we just enjoyed a stay at home day! Sometimes those are the nicest! :) Felt inspired to paint and finished two small 5 x 7s. Am also working on three small commissions! Got together with fhe friends tonight and enjoyed all the talks and laughter. Going to watch the Voice now! (My weakness!)
